Walking in Kyoto

Another Maiko rushing through the alleys

Maiko; Geisha apprentice

Geisha spotting in the narrow alleys

Gion

Heian-jingu Shrine

Kiyomizudera Temple

Temples and shrines. All over the place. Japan`s former capital is a beautiful place, but with only a few days here it is tough to decide where to go.

We started our day by visiting Kiyomizudera Temple, a 1300 year old wooden Buddhist temple. Impressive indeed. We continued our holy journey by visiting the beautiful garden of Heian-jingu Shrine (as seen in Lost in translation). After that we went to the old alleys in Gion for some Geisha hunting, and we thought we were lucky to spot a few but later a japanese guy told us they were only Maiko - Geisha apprentices...
